About
Charlotte offers lessons from her home in New Hinksey (OX1) and online.
Charlotte was born into a family of musicians in London. She began to play the cello aged four, and by the age of seven commenced her studies at the Junior Guildhall School of Music and Drama with Selma Gokcen. In adulthood, Ms. Gokcen also mentored Charlotte in methods of pedagogy.
Charlotte was passionate about music from an early age and became an active participant in numerous orchestras and chamber music projects throughout her youth. She partook in countless concerts and masterclasses having the great fortune to play to cellists such as Bernard Greenhouse, Lluís Claret, Francis Gouton and Truls Mørk.
By the age of ten, Charlotte had already performed throughout the UK and was accepted to study at the prestigious summer program at Margess International Switzerland.
By fifteen, Charlotte had now performed internationally and was invited to study in Oslo at the Barratt Due Music Institute, before she entered the Norwegian State Academy to study with the world renowned cellist, Truls Mørk.
During her studies in Norway, Charlotte performed extensively throughout Scandinavia as a soloist and chamber musician, and was invited multiple times to play at the Czech embassy, the Swedish Embassy and to the Swedish Royal Family.
After working professionally in Norway, with guest appearances at the Norwegian Radio Orchestra, Charlotte returned to London once she had finished her studies.
In London, she performed at the Wigmore Hall, The Purcell Room and Cadogan Hall, before attending The Royal Collage of Music to study her masters with Raphael Wallfisch.
After years of performing as a soloist and chamber musician throughout Europe, Scandinavia and the UK, Charlotte gained a first class degree in Psychoanalysis and developed a keen interest in the subject of music as language within a feminist construct, focusing on the notion of the paradigm which conflicts with the artist mother.
Charlotte now lives with her family in Oxford and teaches in London and her home in New Hinksey.
